The touch screen technology is now in a great proportion in our live. It is an electronic visual display which can detect the presence and location of your touch within the display area, and this technology is generally used in tablet computers like iPad, smartphones or game consoles. The term touch is subjectively means the connection from your hand or fingers, or passively from a stylus pen.
The main attributions of the touch screen can be listed in two. Firstly, it enables you to interact directly with what is displayed, that is, you don’t need a mouse, a trackball and an arrow buttons to achieve your work. Take smartphone as an example, you can make phone calls, write messages or draw pictures via your fingers. However, some may feel troubled if their screen is full of finger prints. In this way, the invention of the capacitive stylus starts another main stream along with the touch screen. People nowadays tend to use the stylus pen as one of the major accessories to work with the touch screen.
But how does the touch screen work? With special design, there are also some several touch screens for you to know. Each of them works in different ways, and they are distinguished by how you sense the screen. The four major ways are pressure sensitive, electrically sensitive, acoustically sensitive and photo sensitive. The pressure sensitive touch screen, or resistive touchscreen, is composed of numbers of thin layers with two thin metallic layers that can electrically conductive and separated by a narrow gap. And the metallic layers will be connected when the pressure is applied. As for electrically sensitive one, the panels are made of an insulator coated transparent conductor. So when the human body touch the conductor, it distorts the electrostatic filed of the body.
