When in the last time you actually needed a flashlight? The reality is that most people own lights that simply aren't that reliable. In the past, every time that I would grab the flashlight it would last for about 5 minutes and then it would die. It just seemed like when the power went out or when I really needed a light that it just wasn't available to me. They were cheap and weren't built to sit idle in a drawer for months just to be used when the time came. But I found out that a simple rechargeable spotlight is actually quite good. It provides a high quality beam of light, even if it has been sitting idle in your basement for months.
Sometimes it can be difficult to make an informed choice when you're trying to get one of these spotlights. They're definitely more powerful and come from a different place then a flashlight. The good thing about them is that they really come through in an emergency. You'll get very bright light out of them for hours and that can save lives if you had to go out in the woods in the middle of the night searching for someone.
A term that you're going to hear often is million candle power. A spotlight is going to be listed as having so many million in candle power. This is actually an outdated form of measuring light. It's essentially saying that if you had a million candles, this spotlight would be able to produce the same amount. It's sort of hard to visualize what a million candles would be like, but I think we can all recognize that it is a lot of light and it is quite powerful.
I have a picture to the right of a 6.5 million candle power recharge spotlight that uses a halogen light bulb. It is probably about the most powerful hand held light that you'll find on the market. Being the most powerful doesn't change the fact that this only costs around $30 on Amazon, which is a bargain considering how often you have to throw out other flashlights. Overall I think it is a pretty good light that you might want to consider.
Cordless Rechargeable Spotlight
A lot of the spotlights that you'll find on the market are actually designed to be mounted onto something. It's either mounted onto your boat or onto your car, or whatever. Cordless is the way to go if you want to be able to walk around with the spotlight. You should be able to find a lot of these when you're looking for them. What you want to focus on is the weight of them. You need something light. Normally these spotlights will be heavier than a traditional flashlight because it provides a much better form of light and it is going to hold its charge much longer.
You should also try to pick up a rechargeable spotlight that has a back up LED. Normally the spotlight will run on a halogen bulb or something else. It will usually provide light for a few hours. But many today have a backup LED light that you can use. It's not as bright, but it will last for days on, so if you were ever camping in the woods this would be something that you would go for.
