In the movie “Click,” the leading player Adam Sandler is able to control his life, quick or slow, backward or forward, by a magical remote controller. In modern life, though the techniques haven’t progress to be able to invent such an amazing device, the appliances equipped with RF module may still satisfy human’s desire to control or monitor something in a very long distance!
RF modules are normally divided into three groups, RF transmitter module, RF receiver module and RF transceiver module. The transmitter module is an electronic component using a variety of radio signals to remote control the target device which has a receiver module built-in. The remote distance can be very long and one doesn't need a line-of-sight remote controlling compared to remote controls using infared technology. RF modules are widely used in garage door openers, wireless alarm systems, industrial remote controls and wireless home automation systems.
There are some key factors concerned about RF module operating distance:
- The transmitter power and receiver sensitivity: The higher the power or receiver sensitivity is, the further remote distance it can be. However, it may cause the interference with other RF devices.
- The antenna using: a stretched antenna will increase the remote distance.
So fun article is! I know more from it.
